it's so fun to take something seemingly ordinary, and turn it into
anything but...
lovely blooms.
we bet when these were delivered, someone's sweetie just made the day.

despite the current dreariness, we've found a bright spot in the midst of it. isn't this color combo the perfect mix of all autumnal bliss? if only it were this delightful outside.
anyway, we love this blend: bright yellow solidago, burgundy poms, tulips, and a big boost of texture and background contrast- kale.
what a day for a daydream...

we love to use seeded eucalyptus in arrangements, bouquets, and often all by itself. there's just such a vintage and subtly eclectic feel about the way the leaves and berries mix together. in a fall or early winter event- we'd certainly suggest adding this perfect silvery-green compliment to your occasion.

we can't really take credit for this- but it was too beautiful not to post. fall just brings out the best in everyone, doesn't it? perfect for many occasions- not to mention the extra benefit of the possibility of roasted pumpkin seeds! find a yummy kid-friendly recipe here.
what a simple, easy arrangement- yet so full of autumnal bliss. we're working on our own this weekend, but this just couldn't wait.

pretty purple.

just a perfectly romantic afternoon wedding. the dresses were a deep purple, the bouquets were full of texture and sentiment. the bride's arrangement featured purple hydrangeas, lisianthus, mini callas, and lavender- reminding her of the fresh sprigs her father always brings on his arrival from the wine country. the bridesmaids were a bit more eclectic with the same mix but adding purple carnations, purple sage and a few pops of green orchids for contrast.
the entire palette could be mirrored wonderfully by a sweet bushel of concord grapes. certainly, nature provides enough colorful inspiration for any event.

the carnation.

a simple flower, yet so full of character. i've often been surprised by these blooms- as they seem to endure long days and add beautiful volume and texture to a bouquet. they also make the most dense, pillowy wreaths which have been featured at many of our past (and hopefully future) events. the carnation color wheel is vast-- one of my favorites is the purplest of purple. but that post is coming soon.

beginnings.

as a little girl, wandering the fields of my grandparent's farm, i fell in love with flowers. some would grow wild, some were maintained- but all were beautiful. i carried in many lively bouquets to my grandma's kitchen- and loved the way it felt to light up a house that way.
now, years later, my own little girls love to play in those same fields and come in with their very own creations. i love watching life- each stage, as it's in bloom.
